When using the Gardus Linteater (http://www.linteater.com/included/) , make sure to read the instructions FIRST (e.g. pay attention to the big bold print that tells you not to use it w/ your drill in the REVERSE mode). More details to follow as this was a tough lesson learned that others should not experience. It ended in a success after Chuck and I got the linteater brush out of the dryer vent from 12 feet down. But it took too many hours and days of toiling, rigging webcams, hangers, you name it.
I am going to document my "story" so my friends and others don't make the same mistakes I did. The linteater is such an amazing and easy to use tool...and the mistakes I made were totally preventable.
It gets "good" around 3:15 and the "punchline" is around 5:10 until the end.
Oh yea, another use for duct tape. Tools used - 36 feet of the linteater rods, lots of duct tape, the hook end of a metal hanger, my webcam with 16 feet of USB extension cable, the circular, rounded bottom of a parmesan cheese container and lots of elbow grease and human ingenuity. this video is the removal of a 3-foot rod connected to one of the linteater brushes.
Incidentally, I lost a second brush in the vent about 15 feet in but it was removed "off camera" as it was easier and didn't require webcam.
i rigged up a standard desktop "creative" webcam ducked tape to the tip of 15 feet of the Gardus Linteater
