copyright doesn't kill art, I think it preserves it. If artists weren't allowed to own their creations and make money off of it, they'd starve to death, and thus would have no incentive to produce any art, or original art ever. Why? When you can just bootleg everything. Let someone else do the hard work of discovering the new sound, then just swoop in and take it. Imagine video games, and movies and stuff. If no one paid for them, no one would make them (or any good ones). It's hard work.
