Public Enemy revolutionized the hip-hop world with its political, social and cultural consciousness, which infused itself into skilled and poetic rhymes with raucous sound collages as a foundation. Prior to PE, political hip-hop was confined to a few tracks by Ice-T, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, and KRS-One, as well as prototypical artists such as Gil Scott-Heron and the Last Poets. PE was the first hip-hop act to base its entire image around a political stance. With the success of Public Enemy, hip-hop was suddenly flooded with new artists that celebrated Afrocentric themes, such as Kool Moe Dee, Gang Starr, X Clan, Eric B. & Rakim, Queen Latifah, the Jungle Brothers, and A Tribe Called Quest. In the 1991 movie Terminator 2: Judgment Day, John Connor (Edward Furlong) wears a Public Enemy t-shirt throughout the entire movie, exhibiting its influence even in mainstream venues.

Okay, where to begin? I love Flava Flav and public enemy. I first started listening to this song years ago. I'm now a paramedic and it grates on my nerves a little. I still think the song is good but you people need to understand the message is twisted. We can't go into a scene if it's unsafe. We don't have a choice, it's what we're trained to do. I imagine some of the areas Flav is referring to are extremely dangerous ones. Sorry, I'm not going to risk my life for you if you're stupid.
I've seen paramedics in safe suburban areas take for ever to get there and then work at snails pace. My buddy found a guy with a stab wound to the neck downtown and the paramedics took 20 minutes and worked as if he was already dead and time wasn't an issue.
I'm a white Hip Hop DJ & have been listening/buying/collecting Hip Hop music for almost 30 years. I'm anti-racist 100%. I'll never disrespect black people or the Hip Hop artists that fuel my passion for their music. They have more soul in their music, more than a majority of todays white artists. Stop this racist bull & just enjoy the video. Peace.
