I often get comments on how easily my bow drill set produces an ember. These comments are usually followed by wanting a set of their own. Usually, I don't mind working out a trade with folks and sending something their way. To make things simpler on me, and easier on my pocketbook since I have to take the time to make a set and usually eat the shipping costs, I have decided to sell the sets for $25.00, shipped. The set made from weeping willow and guaranteed to produce an ember when used properly.

I will consider all trades so don't be afraid to barter!

    fredde

  • @hobbexp HA! I like your survival trick!

I'm pretty happy wearing shorts in January. :)

  • This is a great idea and I'm probably going to get one from you, but again, if you're going to start pumping these out, maybe film how you do it, but then again, maybe you don't want to do that now that your selling them....Dash

  • @mrriprock2 I plan on making a tutorial showing each step in detail. I've avoided doing this because so many already exist, but since I'm making these available I've decided I better provide good instructions so folks enjoy using them. Video instructions are way better than paper ones any day!

Hope to send you a set soon!

  • I will trade you Barrack Obama for a bow drill set

  • @medicjimr No thanks. :)

  • @IHatchetJack Yup a year until my first coal is about right. It was another few years until I got a coal again. That sucks!

  • @gundog5 That is exactly what happened to me. Very cool!

  • @IHatchetJack That there is some dedication. I can absolutely believe it's no joke as everything you said is true for me as well.

  • @gundog5 When I was first learning I'd go until I thought my head was gonna explode! My technique was awful and I had no idea what type of wood to use. Having a proven set would have sped things up considerably. I practiced for about a year before I was able to get my first ember. That's no joke either.

  • Great idea, Jack! I struggled learning the bow drill on my own. Finally, I decided to buy a set, coincidentally for $25. It was the best money I ever spent. The value isn't just in the wood used, but the skill & confidence gained from it. Once I finally understood fire by friction using a proven set, it opened up my world to using materials in my area. It served as a model to help me realize what I was doing wrong. And, it worked so much easier as well.

Trading is an excellent idea too.
