  • No engines, no power = put her down in the closest and safest place. Hudson was that. Anyone suggesting that he could've made a safe landing at an airport should never fly as a PIC.

Landing on the road? You are kidding right? Any number of things could've gone wrong that would've included cars, buildings, hundreds of other people.

  • @HJV333 the NTSB report said that if they turned around immediately, they very well could have made it back to the airport.

  • @Cherimoya9 Exactly. What kind of hero thinks about the Hudson?

  • @psyjpg

He made a comment at take-off about how pretty the Hudson looked. Maybe he couldn't take his mind off it.

  • fully loaded, no power, very low and slow, you don't turn around. I wouldn't have either. Even if I knew we we lose 50% of the people.

  • Yeah, Ure gonna land on the West Side Highway @ Rush Hour... GOOD LUCK WITH THAT....

  • @cjracer1000 What's there to assess? They hit some birds and both engines are flamed out. It takes one second to turn that thing around and land at the same place he started. LGA. Instead he lands the plane in the water where everyone get wet, the plane engines get submerged and flooded, and the carpeting and upholstery all needs to be replaced. Bad move.

  • @psyjpg lol, they wanted to assess the situation I guess.

  • @cjracer1000 why did he wait so long to turn it around? Ruined a perfectly good plane.

  • @cjracer1000 Instead they decided to ruin a perfectly good airplane.
