Oh Gods, Caballé is one of you!!! This ending of Verdi's Don Carlos is the best perfomance I've ever heart. Her voice is one of the best liric soprano's of the second half of 20th century. Amazing in all tonalities. Brava!!!! Always Bravissima!!!!

From what I have heard,the story is that supposedly during this performance, somehow- Corelli pushed/shoved Caballe, and she was furious... and at the final note she was determined to have her revenge ...and so she did!
Although, I never heard anyone complain about Franco in that way ...so who knows? Caballe' and Corelli were both phenomenal artists. Blessed are we who had the privilege of hearing them! What we have today is no great pickings.. and certainly no comparison to these artists
