How To Install NextGen Slideshow Into Wordpress Page or Post

In this beginner's guide, I'll teach you how to install a simple, fade in, fade out slideshow in a Wordpress post or page

Excuse the audio and my large webcam face! This video was made for a University of Hartford course I taught, for students who are using the WP-Folio Wordpress Theme to build an online portfolio. This tutorial will explain how to use the 'Slideshow' style gallery, although the tips can be applied to *most of the other slideshow styles as well.

The first thing you need to do starting from your Wordpress dashboard is install the Next-Gen Gallery plugin.

Go to 'Plugin' , 'Add New', Search for 'Next-Gen Gallery' , 'Install Plugin', 'Activate Plugin'

Now that you've installed the plugin in the left hand column there is a tab called gallery. If you toggle open the options you will see an option 'Add Gallery'. Select 'Add Gallery'

Name your Gallery. You do have the ability to have multiple Galleries but we are starting off with just one.

We will name our first Gallery 'Gallery 1'. Then select 'Add Gallery'

In the next screen we have the ability to upload our images. You can upload them individually from your computer, a zip file, or you can import an entire folder.

For now we will upload some images from our computer. You can select multiple images. You will then need to assign the images a Gallery. We will select the Gallery we created - 'Gallery 1'

If you go to the sidebar to the Next-Gen gallery options and select 'Manage Gallery 'you can see all your galleries listed.
