he who knows nothing of sin,

    That eternal ruin,

    And the retribution of judgement,

May not weigh upon my soul."

  • @Jairdan Well said. Thanks for your tribute to Fliegner.

  • Wonderful. This is the way it would have been performed in Bach's time. The boy, Christian Fliegner, has a beautiful voice and delivers his interpretation in a stunning way. What a pleasure you brought us here. Thank you.

  • @TheMrpatyk I just needed to correct one thing you said. The lower wind instruments are oboi da caccia, i.e. "hunting oboes" . They have a curved wooden bodies wrapped in leather, and a brass bells. They were invented by a guy named Eichentopf in Leipzig, and Bach made extensive use of them in his cantatas and passions.

  • There are no oboes in this performance! They are krumhorns or cornets. The kid is very good, if a little strident on the higher notes
