Couple points;
It's rare, but some people will post Rar files with numbers on the end, making them look like split files.
Also, Par2 can't magically repair any and all damage to files. Typically, they can fix a post with 20-30% of the parts missing or corrupt. More than that and you have to ask for a repost or additional Par2 files.
