See all 11 parts!!! Arguably the most intelligently written film to feature the masterful stop-motion animation of Ray Harryhausen, Jason and the Argonauts is a colorful adventure that takes full advantage of Harryhausen's "Dynarama" process. Inspired by the Greek myth, the story begins when the fearless explorer Jason (Todd Armstrong) returns to the kingdom of Thessaly to make his rightful claim to the throne, but the gods proclaim that he must first find the magical Golden Fleece. Consulting Hera, the queen of gods, Jason recruits the brave Argonauts to crew his ship, and they embark on their eventful journey. Along the way they encounter a variety of mythic creatures, including the 100-foot bronze god Talos, the batlike Harpies, the seven-headed reptilian Hydra, and an army of skeletons wielding sword and shield. This last sequence remains one of the finest that Harryhausen ever created, and it's still as thrilling as anything from the age of digital special effects. Harryhausen was the true auteur of his fantasy films, and his brilliant animation evokes a timeless sense of wonder. Jason and the Argonauts is a prime showcase for Harryhausen's talent--a wondrous product of pure imagination and filmmaking ingenuity.

  • Those skeletons screaming scared the crap out of me as a kid.

  • Com to think abou it: is Jason really a hero or a simple pirate? I mean: He comes all the way to the end of the world to STEAL the golden fleece. I know It's for reclaiming his kingdom and so on but still he simply steals the fleece?

  • loool skeletons when they scream its funny XD

  • those who steal the golden fleece must DIE!!.............hahaa imagine how much of a muppet he would look if nothing happened when he threw those teeth lol

  • I love that shield that the skeleton has with that grinning face on it!!!

  • @GOTH86 Isnt the king or people he stole it from corrupt or evil?,they do worship the goddess of darkness or whatever it was

  • here comes the best sequence in the whole flick.....skeleton warriors...cool

  • Aren't the skellies amazing. I have watched this scene hundreds of times and never tire of it. I sometimes try and "stop/start" in a feeble attempt to see a "glitch" and at this point must admit to an epic fail on my own behalf....lol.

  • @TiniNormi lol...me too 8)

  • @GOTH86 St. Augustine tells the story of a pirate captured by Alexander the Great, who asked him how dare he molest the sea. How dare you molest the whole world the pirate replied. Because I do it with a little ship only, I am called a thief; you, doing it with a great navy, are called an emperor....sweet.

  • I love it because the skeletons start out being the coolest things in movie history, then they do a unanimous battle shriek and charge. I fall on the floor laughing every time.

  • yeah but in order for him to become rich and be a king again he's going to destroy a whole country. :/ not very heroic, but maybe im wrong.
