Communism failed in practise because everything went stagnant... Capitalism is also failing because in order for a Capitalist economy to be successful it must grow and continue to grow... A better way must be found!
That said, we must as individuals learn to be content by making the best of whatever our life's situation happens to be. If there is an afterlife, I doubt that there's any economic system in it :)

communism and capitalism in the end are very often based on lies and "profiting" from other peoples naivety... sad but our world is rotten so we have to make our bits of heaven on this earth !

No offense, but Lola says she likes the new dog better. Ha ha! Me? Either one will do. It's funny, isn't it? People that we're told are miserable in their society often times aren't. Of course, in this case they were ignorant of there being a "better" way. Or at least another way. I'm still glad the wall is gone. People shouldn't be kept ignorant about what's going on in the rest of the world.

actually this friend told me that they had television and were not quite oblivious to western "values" but they mostly noticed the ease of travel compared to theirs...
