Barak Obama Rally in West Philadelphia

Obama gives a rousing address to thousands of people packed into West Philly's Main Street. The crowd was far to large for most people to see the stage. There was a great atmosphere and enthusiasm for Obama and West Philly's own Michael Nutter.

I locked my bike up in Malcolm X park and walked to a line went from 53rd and Pine to 52nd and Locust, solid people all the way. People were very patient considering most of them were out in the sun for over two hours. There was a real party atmosphere. Someone left a sarcastic note on one of my videos that at a certain bike race there had never been so many white people in West Philly. Well, I can tell you that in the 25 years I've in West Philly there have never been so many white people on 52nd street at one time until Obama showed up! This would not have happened with any other candidate.

It was a really hard call for me to attend this or to go down town and protest at the Sarah Palin event. I decided to hear Obama's voice this time.

This video also shows the awesome mural on the side of Huey Elementary school at 52nd and Pine Streets.

BTW, the white deep V's fixed wheelset with black hubs and spokes on the Huffy cruiser at 1:06 have miraculously been returned to their real owner... The rider shown here later went into a local bike shop and said he wanted "fixed gear tires." At that time he said his mom had bought him the wheels. Give your kid a brakeless fixie? Sounds like time to call child protective services to me. Anyway, shortly after that he was spotted by the real owner who got the wheels back.

No need to wait, Tarchomraicer, I can tell you now. Obama has already changed the way that many African Americans see themselves. It is wonderful to see kids I work with showing an interest in politics and seeing themselves as more powerful and important.

Sounds like time to call child protective services to me" Do you really think that the child would be better off in a white foster home - because that's were he'd probably end up. And statistics prove that a child has at least 5 times more chance of being abused / killed in a foster home than in the home of his biological parents. CPS gets federal funding for breaking up families.

Sorry, perhaps my remark was a bit flip, Tarcho. I was trying to say was that the idea that a parent would spend hundreds of dollars to modify their kid's bike and make it dangerous was ridiculous ergo the kid was lying. Don't know if you are in Philly, but I can assure you that those stats don't hold here. There is a policy to keep families together at all costs despite serious criticism of the Dept of Human Services. Of course, the system is far from perfect.

Nutter isn't getting reelected due to the other slobs that put him the situation. Thank Rendell and Goode for this mess as well as Street. They all do nothing. But steal from us the taxpayers.
