She sang her heart out from her early days in church til the day she passed on to something greater. Any song she did, became better, just for the fact that she made it her own.

So real, the highs, the lows, the strength, and she shares it with us, so we know we are not the only one who feels like that.
So more honest that the usual easy melody and the la-di-da lyrics, guess you have to be crazy to know what I mean, oh well.

...what is really crazy-making is people who define reality (who is crazy and who is not) while apparently disconnected from completely rational feeeeeeeelings (given deeply sad conditions then and now on our planet) demonstrated so honestly and courageously in this video.
