Summer Camp - Original Song

This is an original ukulele instrumental that I wrote. The video was recorded the day that I came up with the initial melody for the song. Tsani and I were at summer camp with the Boy Scouts and decided to head up to a scenic waterfall and shoot some ukulele videos. We got a lot of great footage, but the waterfall was so loud that you could not hear the ukes. I held on to the the footage with the idea that I would dub in the music later, but now I can't remember what songs I played, so the whole thing seemed kind of pointless.:-) After working on "Summer Camp" for a number of months and getting a decent recording of it, the video footage I had seemed like a suitable back drop for you to watch while listening to the tune that was born on the same day. Orignally, I had lyrics in mind, but, while the music came together nicely, the lyrics did not. So, they were cut but the instrumental remains. Enjoy.

The ukulele in the video is a concert sized Kala made of laminated Koa. The ukuleles you hear are a Kamaka baritone ukulele with Aquila strings on rhythm and a Kamaka Tenor with D'addario Hawaiian Style strings on lead. Both are gold label vintage made sometime between 1954 and 1969.

Funny, when I first looked at the video, I thought it looked like a greenscreen too. It is not though, I'm standing in the water. I wish the falls hadn't been so loud, I would have gotten a couple good videos out of that day.
