I think she definitly pinned down one of the reasons why its hard for U.S./foreign students of bharatanatyam to really dive into abhinyam. Though emotions are universal, certain body language is unique to each culture. As Sunitha said, we don't really shy away when someone shows an interest in you. We might play hard to get, but its never demure in that Indian way.
