Kinda sad, to see these old organizations fading away.

But it wouldn't have to be this way, with a simple change. Instead of cumbersome lifelong vows, the nuns could take temporary vows, like say 5-10 years, and afterwards return to the laity, if they wish. The Buddhists in India and Tibet have a similar system in place, and the Church could do the same.
