I have to use brown rice flour as a sub. due to corn allergy. can it be good if there is only flour and no corn meal or brown rice flour?

Corn meal makes it slightly crisp and crunchy. I'm not sure what would be a good substitute.

Wondering what they did about cooking/baking back in the day in the south during the summertime when it was so hot? did they cook/bake outdoors ? Cant imagine firing up the oven indoors I appreciate this genuine southern recipe. Thx so much

i always get my hands wet and flick the water on the oil. when the water pops off the oil is ready. the oil will also have little waves in it. on a pan ne way. yall from VA?
