  • Captain Force is quite the guy

  • Someone recognized the song....I'm impressed. Usually the band is not that coherent.

  • Unlike many other US service bands the US Merchant Marine Band is a true military band. It is not a symphonic wind band like most US bands are today. This band plays a lot of marches and puts on an impressive march display, unlike most US service bands. Sometimes there are a few blue notes, but this band has to be created anew every year by the dilligence of its aging director, Kenneth R. Force. Long may its unique style and tradition continue when its legendary director somedays retires.

  • This is a fabulous march titled Farewell of the Slovak Woman. Russia uses it when troops ship out to the front or when draftees leave home town for basic military training.
