last year most of our solitary bee larvae were devoured by garden birds, but we took special care this year, placing wire around the nest, and WALAH! Our bees emerged! These nests are easy to make --- solitary bees are some of the most effective pollinators, so why not give it a try? Nature will be happy.

  • Great news - your excitement is very understandable as it's a fantastic feeling when they emerge out of the mud cells.

On another note, I found that all my tubes that have both ends open, didn't encourage bees - they like to lay up against a hard vertical surface... so I'd either replace the tubes or block the back ends up with mud/clay so there's no light coming through.

    Hope they start nesting soon.
