I am a Physical Therapist and I am saying Enough is Enough!
My name is Dimitrios Kostopoulos and I am a Physical Therapist from NY. A few weeks ago I received a letter from HIP giving me an ultimatum to accept a 20% decrease in reimbursement of my PT services or else I have to resign the panel of providers.
At the same time Anthony Watchon CEO of HIP more than doubled his salary to $4.79 million dollars. $4.79 million dollars? This is enough money to provide insurance to 1400 uninsured people for a whole year.
At a time when our country goes through very difficult financial times, when businesses are closing down and people are losing their jobs, to have HIPs CEO Anthony Watchon doubling his salary to 4.79 million dollars and cutting down the reimbursement to PT by 20% is an absolute disgrace. But this behavior is not uncommon. Do you remember what the executives of AIG, CITIBANK and the Automobile industry did? It sounds familiar?
My friends this reduction in reimbursement to PT will affect the quality care that you receive from your PT providers, meanwhile when HIP applied to convert its non-profit status to for profit status promised to the people that this change will not affect the quality of service they receive.
But I am saying enough is enough! On Thursday April 30th at 12 noon I will personally deliver to Mr. Watchon my resignation from the panel of providers of HIP. I will be delivering my resignation at HIP headquarters at 55 Water Street in Manhattan.
I will be joined by all of my physical therapists, my PTAs, my staff members and my patients.
I invite the people and the media to join us.
It is time for all of us to say to these high paid executives who are out of touch of reality with the regular people like you and me that enough is enough.
I hope you can join me!
When is enough, enough? Here is an example of yet another corporate executive, filling his pockets on the backs of the poor working class people of this state. I bet Mr. Watson gets all of the top shelf Medical & Physical therapy he needs. The taxpayers are probably paying for it too! It has become all too common place for these corporate snobs to take advantage of their positions and perks while the common man suffers. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH ALREADY! STAND TOGETHER AND FIGHT THE CORPORATE GREEDY !
