  • The galah flipped over night and became scared from people and totally depressed. He does not like to play with anything. He hardly gets excited. Its very sad. He moves very slow and sits all day at one spot. We dont know what to do. We did a little research and it said they might catch a parasite from the water. But who knows?

  • Any updates on your Galah?

  • Im guessing you need to take him to a vet. If you have already, and thereh as been no name for this problem, or no cutre, or solution, then I don't know what to tell you. He's adorable though, what's his name? I see you have a nice big cage for him, it's really sweet. I can't wait, because I'm getting a Galah in a few days. :3

  • If I had to guess, a sudden change in temperament means you have a sick bird on your hands. Please take him/her to an avian vet just to rule out any possibility of sickness.

  • Also, what kind of diet is your Galah on, pelleted food or seed? Will it let you feed it by hand?

  • Thanks for the info. How old is your Galah? Has it been DNA sexed? You might want to take it to an avian vet and have some blood tests done to rule out disease. As soon as I got mine, I took it to the avian vet to make sure it was healthy. Birds are great at hiding disease when they are sick. It helps them survive in the wild.

  • Also, I missed the part where you want to make playmates out of the 2 birds. I don't think I'd do that if I were you. I have 3 cockatiels and they will never be allowed to be 'playmates' with my Galah. My avian vet totally agrees. There's just too much size & temperament difference.

  • Love birds have a temperament that allows them to entertain themselves. Your Galah (Rose Breasted) has a much higher intelligence level and needs way more stimulation and attention. How much real time do you give your Galah every day? Pay attention to your Galah, see what he likes to play with, and change the toys around every week or so with toys he likes. I do not enjoy seeing your Galah in such distress. I have one of my own and he is the most intelligent and interactive bird I've ever owned.

  • Please check out DoctorRossPerry's channel. He is an avian vet and has many informative videos about bird disease. He also has a website: CockatooHealth
