SOUL FLOWER MONONOKE SUMMIT 96.11 TV

SOUL FLOWER MONONOKE SUMMIT is an unprecedented traditional acoustic band, derived from Rock'n'Roll Band SOUL FLOWER UNION. They started playing in 1995 when the earthquake happened in Hanshin (the middle west area of Japan) where they live. They perform some traditional instruments such as the Okinawa Sanshin, Ching-Dong (Japanese marching drum set), Changgo (Korean percussion instrument), and play traditional songs can sing and dance together. Their performance have a fandamental pleasure, some messages for society and importance for culture.

Yes they are great. I didn't know about the earthquake impetus - thanks for that information. By the way, part 2 of this doc starts with their fab version of the Internationale. Radical chindon - what more can I ask for?

Soul Flower Mononoke Summit is my favorite band, period. Thank you so much for posting this video, it really gives me an insight to how they perform and just how caring they are. I may not be able to understand any Japanese, but I think their music sounds so uplifting and energetic... I actully have all 3 Mononoke Summit CDs :)
