I flew out to L.A. on July 30th with 2 carry on bags for free on Spirit Airlines. My return date was August 6th and they were now charging for carry ons. I figured out a way to reduce the cost to get them back. For future flights it will be better to just fit the contents of 2 carry ons into one large suitcase.

LOL! In the Philippines, we call this type of baggage a balikbayan :P

I love it !! I am going to add that name to the Youtube tags.It was a little inconvenient at one point, but I am still pissed at Spirit for doing this. I hope this does not become a trend for other airlines. Spirit was the first airline to charge for checked baggage, and the other airlines followed suit. Hopefully they won't follow suit with this!

It wasn't for the money as much as it was for the principle. Spirit is such a cheap company! They charge for everything and scrape every penny they can out of people. I am doing everything I can to protest their new baggage policies. I find it funny that they have startted giving out free pretzels on flights now that the new baggage fee has started. It was no big deal, took about 10 minutes of my time. Purolator has started a service to compete with airlines' ridiculous baggage charges.

That's a lot of work to save 15 bucks. By the time you get the cardboard boxes, wrap it in bungie cords and then wrap it in tape how much hassle is that worth? Plus, how do you carry this carboard contraption to the airport? Clearly you can't roll it so now you have the combination of 2 carry-ons packed into boxes nearing 50lbs that you have to carry under your arm. All of this to save $15?
