boxing guards require big boxing gloves to work efficiently. watch mme, and you'll see what i mean. they don't adapt boxing guards in mma either, and that's arguably the most realistic fighting sport in the world. i say that, but it's still only a sport of course. itf fellas don't need their hands up that high because the distance is mid-range. watch old pugilism fights, the guard is much the same. the guard depends on techniques used, and distance.
