Mork And Mindy TV Show Opening Theme Season One 1978

Bizarre television comedy with Robin Williams as Mork from Ork, who is an alien hatched from an egg, sent to investigate Earth and report back to his superiors. As an outsider, Mork is unfamiliar with human customs and often questions some of the strange traditions that we take for granted. Much of the humor relies on Williams' unique comic voices and mannerisms. The show was perhaps most famous for Mork's saying, 'nanoo nanoo.' Boulder, Co. Mork is a bumbling alien from the planet Ork sent to Earth, in his egg, to study it's inhabitants. He will report to his unseen superior, Orson, until reassigned. On Earth, he meets Mindy McConnell, an average woman who takes him in and shelters him. On befriending Mork, she signs herself up for some wacky adventures as Mork learns about human life, acting (and looking) very eccentric along the way. In addition to spouting "nanoo, nanoo", Mork had an uncanny ability to impersonate celebrity voices. Eventually, the relationship between Mork and Mindy jumped from a strong friendship to romance, and they married, eventually bearing a son, Mearth from Earth, who aged backwards like his father. 1978

You know what's strange. They could now do a prequel to Mork and Mindy. They could show Mork when he was young. Because remember Orkin's age in reverse. So Robin Williams today actually looks like young Mork. Weird huh?

This show is kind of like 3rd rock from the sun (although this came before 3rd rock). I mean, aside from the fact that here it's 1 alien and in 3rd rock it's 4, they're both about a member of an alien race who goes to Earth to examine humans and what they do.

Listening to the theme song, it strikes me how my generation grew up listening to rock'n'roll or disco, yet heard all of these legacy orchestras playing "hip" music with brass instruments! Their talent was incredible, but theme show music was changing (until it disappeared almost entirely), and now one does not hear much brass in orchestral soundtracks anymore. It's all violins and synthesizers. I'm of two minds about this.

Wow, only Robin Williams can:

1- wear a silly red alien suit

2- say nano nano (or whatever the heck that was..)

3- walk onto a red carpet towards an egg shaped aircraft

4- pretend to be an alien for about half an hour

and keep being sane at the end of the day.

This man deserves an award.
