AFRICA ENDEAVOR 2011

Maritime safety and security conference July 19-21, 2011

More than 100 participants from 25 nations and representatives from the International Maritime Organization, Maritime Organization of West and Central Africa, Gulf of Guinea Commission, U.S. Departments of State, Justice and U.S. Coast Guard, attended the maritime safety and security conference July 21, 2011 in Garmisch, Germany.

The goal of the conference was to develop the framework of an agreement on maritime cooperation that could be approved by senior decision makers at a follow-on, political-level conference to be held in 2012.

The conference also aimed to forge partnerships, identify projects that support maritime security activities and strengthen collaborative strategies.

The cooperation from those in attendance served as a forum for African representatives from two Regional Economic Communities to increase national, regional and continental stability among member states.

  • @The88Nomad, while you are very passionate in your comments they make no sense and demonstrate a significant lack of education on what Africa Command does on the continent. If you want to comment, please get smart first by going to the command's website at AFRICOM.mil and studying up. "Colonialism" how archaic a concept and not anthing like what they are doing. "Arming poor Africans" I challenge you to state your evidence.

  • Why should America spend money on arming poor Africans when they are in need of health care, education, infrastructure building etc??? Thankfully no African country accepted to have an AFRICOM base in Africa. Africa colonial days are over!

  • I hope AFRICOM fails! Along with the IMF, WORLD BANK and WTO (World Trade Organization). America has 800 to 1100 military bases in 131 countries; China none. America in the last 20 years attacked and bombed 11 countries; China none. America CIA overthrows government and organizes terror attacks all over the world. America is No 1 ARMS SELLER IN THE WORLD! America largest debtor; China largest creditor. Africa has 40% of the world gold, 90% of the platinum and 90% of the world's cobalt!
