Be careful with this method, as you may damage the surface of your disk.
First of all: Why does it work?
Your deodorant is not a thick substance, so it will barely effect your console. The deodorant will fill in your scratches, staying invisible and a bit solid. You also don't need to wash your disk off, unless certain issues occur.
Why isn't my toothpaste working?
Yes, toothpaste fills in the scratches and stuff, but when you wash it off, the toothpaste runs out of the scratches, so it's a reverse right after you wash it off.
Some say vaseline or some wax works, is it true?
NO, do not attempt to do this. If ruins your disk more, because of smears when washed. If it is kept on, the disk does not work. Do not attempt. It does work, but it is only temporary, and after that, it's ruined more. They say this is only a use if you will burn the CD right after you find out it works. Use this as a last resort.
Do metal polishers work?
I'm not sure, but I believe they do. I did not have any metal polishers at the time, so I tried deodorant, and it worked best for me.
What kind of disks will the deodorant work on?
GOOD QUESTION! It will work on white-coated CDs. Black coated CDs YOU WILL NEED TO BE CAREFUL ON! Purple, I'm not sure, but I think you don't have to be as careful. Blue I don't recommend putting deodorant on at all! One thing people are not telling you are which of kind of disks it will work on. Please ask before attempting.
My disk contains this lines going around the disk, will it work?
If they are not scratches, they are probably the bypassers for the console(illegal copy). I'm not saying do not use the disk, do not use the deodorant on them, as I believe it will ruin the bypassers for the disk. Disks that contain the bypassers are usually disks for a game console such as: Action Replay MAX(barely visible) and Swap Magic(VISIBLE)
What should I do if this doesn't work after applying deodorant? Can I make it work again?
Yes, you can make it work again! If it isn't working after appliance, try re-rubbing the deodorant on the disk, without applying more. If it still isn't working, you need to wash it off with water and liquid soap. Then dry it with a T-Shirt rubbing from the center(hole) to the outer part(edge). Repeat the deodorant process. IF IT STILL REFUSES TO WORK, use a circular motion around the disk with the deodorant instead of going from the center to the outer part.
I have found a cool way to clean your scratched and dirty disks using deoderant!!!
If you don't wanna wait for the video to type everything, READ HERE:
First, take the deodorant holder, and rub the deodorant around the disk one to five times(ONCE IS GOOD ENOUGH!) in the center as if going from inner to outer. I do not mean the very center(hole), but the center as if you were going inner to outer, making sure not to hit the hole of the disk. If this is done, too much deodorant was applied. I will explain later how to clean it off... Next, with your fingers, rub the deodorant the disk so you have a full coat on the disk. Next, in a circular motion around the disk, rub the deodorant into the disk. Next, rub the deodorant form center to the outer part of the disk. Go around the disk rubbing center to outer part three times or more. Now your disk should play like new! If having trouble, rub in a circular motion around the disk, or apply just a little more deoderant. If you think too much deoderant was applied, clean the disk with warm water and liquid soap. Dry it off with a T-shirt going from center to the outer part. After a while, maybe a day or so, the disk will play poorly, and look like how it looked before you put on deodorant. When this occurs, I cleaned it off with the water and liquid soap method, and drying with a T-Shirt center-out. Then used the same deodorant method. Sorry I didn't have a camera to show you, it's lost and cannot be found. Have fun cleaning up your scratched disks!!! ^^
TIP: If it doesn't seem to work the many times you do it, you may want to make sure the surface of your scratched part is still visible, if it isn't you applied to much deodorant(use water and liquid soap method mentioned above). I think this is a great tip, because at times I couldn't see the scratches, or surface, it would not work. This is because the laser, I believe, cannot read or cut through the deodorant. It may have messed up where the laser was checking on the disk.
Sorry I didn't mention earlier that you can damage the surface of your disk. One more thing: your disk looks new! :D
My bro tried this, And now my Gamecube CD's are broken :3
Reason: Deodorant indeed fills up the scratches, But not with data. It fills things up with Deo itself.
When scratched, there are two options to take
1) make a backup CD with burning and ripping tools (might also work with damaged CD's, but youll need a fairly fast CD reader)
2) Buy a new CD and be careful (put it back in cover ETC.)
Dont believe this, it will ruin your CD.

@nikko8P If you scratched it enough that you got to the data layer, then your game CD is screwed. CDs have layers on them, particularly the data layer and the protective layer. The protective layer(front and back) protect the data itself from being destroyed. So as long as you didn't scratch it so bad that you destroyed some of the data, you can at least fix the protective layer with deodorant. When the protective layer is scratched, the laser cannot interpret or return any data to the machine.
