Fallout 3 Guide : How to Get A3-21's Plasma Rifle

While doing the side quest "The Replicated Man", talk to Doctor Preston, in Rivet City. Ask him about a Lipoplasticater, and a Micro Dermal Grafilizer. He'll tell you to go see Pinkerton.

Pinkerton is on the Broken Bow of Rivet City. (The Part of the ship that is broken off) In the video I go in through the front entrance. (You have to have a 100 Lockpick skill to go this way) Once inside, get past all the traps, and get into Pinkerton's lab. Ask him if he did the surgery for an android. If he pretends not to know, threaten him and he'll tell you. He'll also give you some pictures as proof. Next tell him that Harkness needs to know that he's an android. Pinkerton will tell you what to say to make Harkness remember his past. (Activate A3-21 Recall Code Violet)

Next, go find Harkness. He'll be somewhere in Rivet City. (I found him in the Market) Tell him that he's and android, and show him the proof. Tell Harkness Activate A3-21 Recall Code Violet. Harkness thanks you for not telling Zimmer, and gives you A3-21's Plasma Rifle as a gift.

Do you have to do it on the quest or can you just go to rivet city and do it?
