  • an .1 of a hectare to sustain their lifestyle. The image we should be trying to spread is that we have to cut back on some of the luxuries of our consumer lifestyles and begin developing sustainable ways of preparing ourselves for the unavoidable "super famine" which will be caused if we continue to live as we do now.

  • @ all the haters out there, i was 12 when I made this. Sure, not all my facts were right, but I was just giving a general picture. Put it in this perspective: Every human on earth (averaged) requires 2.2 ha of fertile land to produce what they need to live as they do now. The average Australian needs about 8 ha of fertile land to sustain it's consumer lifestyle, and similar for the USA, the UK etc. Less developed nations require much less, the average person in these countries requiring less th

  • How did you do it cuz were studying about this and i have to do something similiar?

  • ah it was pretty simple just got a few images off the web and made it into a movie on movie maker. thats about all :D

  • Lol we can do more better than that ^_^

If you whant to know go to my channel here...

  • @buzongtang

I was responding to the arguments of somebody else, why not read them and then come back.

"Look, it isn't a question of pollution"

Human pollution is an consequence of consumption, right.

"and fair quality of life for all humans"

You think you are not responsable of this situation?ALL the Western economic power is based on cheap workers in third world countries.ALL the empires ever worked on slaves or cheap labor.

You and I profit from this system right now, so it's easy to preach.

  • @celt130 Things do come and go. But while we're here, why not live sanely and in a manner which produces the most just social outcomes in terms of maintaining a livable and fair quality of life for all humans? The impermanence and frailty of life is not justification to simply not give a shit about how we are treating both ourselves and the planet right now. That's just insanity.

  • @celt130 I really don't understand your point (if you even have one). Look, it isn't a question of pollution--the real problem in terms of sustaining modern technological civilization at this scale is both the rate and manner in which we are consuming natural resources (whether those be depletion of carbon sinks (read: forests), fundamental commodities (read: oil, rare earth minerals), fresh water, or our fish stocks, etc). Why are you talking about volcanoes? Get out of here with your nonsense.

  • Sure, as the human population expands, we will be forced to find ways of doing more with less. Arguably, this kind of approach is necessary immediately. I would even argue that we need a fundamental change in our values and policy directions. However, this video really adds nothing meaningful to the solution discourse. Simply telling people "live with less and we will all be better off" is no solution. In fact, it is a disincentive--rather than being helpful, is counterproductive. Wrong message.

  • I only hope if and when we get wiped out or die out on earth there is some one left young and wise enough to procure our existence and relevant history. I believe we squabble over too small or too big of differences and linger in our past actions too much. I don't believe we understand or respect life and death as well as we should.

  • @Dragonpq What is protecting the environment exactly? Plants and animals are suffering also because of there own activities as they eat each other as we do. In Canada you cannot eat fish from the lakes because they are poissened by the rotting trees falling and sinking in those lakes.Volcanos are the worst polutors on earth, far worse then humans. We can all join the VHEMT to finish humanity. It has become a marketing strategy to save the world

  • @celt130 that doesn't mean we shouldn't try to protect the environment. we're not the only ones living on this planet, many animals and plants are suffering because of our human activities.
