keith rowe has been playing guitars and other sonic devices in the wonderful amm since 1965. being one of the key figures in the drone department of free european improvisation he also used to collaborate with the likes of evan parker, barry guy, richard teitelbaum and many others, though being in and out of amm obviously takes most of his time and passion. but the most pure, beautiful and radical noise textures seem to arise out of his instant composing playing all on his own. here he can be seen and heard as a transmogrifying solo artist in october 2001 in an unknown location.

several hours of live recordings featuring amm and friends and relatives can be found at interlace recordings: http://incalcando.com/interlace/recordings.html

please support amm and their label: http://www.matchlessrecordings.com

some more information is here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keith_Rowe

  • ein geschmackloses t-shirt und viel zu viel bewegung: wie um dem publikum zu demonstrieren, dass klängen und klängeren harte arbeit ist. unnötig hektisch.

  • Steinberger guitar-for avant-garde players!

  • @triadicmemories I know just what I've read and what little I've heard. Pardon me if my vernacular is off. The main thrust of my post is, I believe accurate, is it not? My interest in AMM really begins and ends with their influence on Floyd, which is much closer to my own preferable aesthetic. Rather than appear priggish, perhaps you could enlighten us as to what in my post is inaccurate besides the reference that AMM was Rowe's "band". It looks to me like a fairly good, quick summation of them.

  • @09jackstraw the fact that you would state that AMM is "Keith Rowe's band" tells me that you probably haven't heard AMM (other than what is on youtube) and don't know much about AMM and their aesthetic.

  • Keith Rowe's band AMM heavily influenced Syd Barrett and early Pink Floyd. They were a free-form experimental combo that embraced anti-technique driven music, anti-ego driven music. Avante garde at its best.

  • I like it.

  • @vandaale some truth to this actually , with regarding the "movement" aspect ...

  • Arachnidius, you lack imagination. Judging by your name, I imagine you enjoy heavy metal mastubatory soloing - those guys alwasy seems to confuse issues of skill with issues of talent.

  • Just because he makes it look like he knows what he's doing, he obviously doesn't. Hitting the guitar strings is still just hitting the guitar strings. Call me narrow-minded, but this is shit. Ok, past 2:00 it became more interesting. Interesting as in he varied the object with which he hit the strings, as in still shit. Give an idiot with no musical talent lots of weed, a load of ordinary household items and a guitar and they would undoubtedly produce this. I hate pretentious cunts. Rant over.

  • He`s doing this since 60`s? might be art but i dont like it . NO

  • Dear Demafon: you can tell yourself that shredding is expression or art if you like, but technique is just a means to an end. think before you write.
