This is how the Kuala Penyu ferry service operates. It starts from 530am to 930pm everyday through out the year for the last 20 years. Asked if any break down, of course said Ismail Untong an operator of the ferry since 1980, he is now 50 years old.
Perhaps Kuala Penyu ferry is the only one left in Sabah
The ferry provides service 14 hours in a day only rest for times for duration of 30 minutes each, which means two hours, rest time out of 16 hours.
The journey takes 10 minutes to cross the river. Asked if there is a plan for bridge, the guy who was riding a bicycle much too happy to tell me that the bridge is under contruction about 2km away from where we were. The irony is why it takes so long to have this ferry replaced by a bridge.
