i found 2 surface guages there:
1. when kong is in his giant lair cave and is walking up in the distance to the mountain top, a guage appears just before he comes out from behind the rock he put ann in.
2. after ann faints on the mountain top, the next shot of kong looking over her has a rather noticable guage in it.
