(June 17)The man who died on this rural California roadway was Sergio Aguilar. Police say the 27-year old man was shot and killed by an officer when he wouldn't stop beating a child.Authorities responded to 911 calls from passing motorists who describe Aguilar next to his parked truck Saturday night. He had pulled a 2-year old from his car seat and was stomping, kicking and punching the boy. Police landed a helicopter in a cow pasture nearby, but by the time they got to the scene, it was too late to save the toddler. He was taken to a hospital where he died.Officials say they think the boy was Aguilar's son, but by the time he got to the hospital he was unrecognizable. They say they'll have to use DNA testing to identify the little boy.A Modesto police officer warned the man to stop the beating, but he wouldn't. That's when the officer shot and killed him.
