This piece is from my senior recital. The description of this piece is listed below.

Robert Schumann's "Widmung" ("Dedication") opens his song-cycle Myrthen (Myrtles'), which was appropriately named after the blossoms traditionally associated with marriage festivals, as it was his wedding present to his bride, Clara Wieck. "Widmung" was one of five songs in Myrthen with texts from the poems of Friedrich Rückert. In this piece, Schumann confessed all of the things Wieck was to him; his peace, angel, repose, rapture, heart, soul, grave for sorrows, better self and his heaven. He altered the text by repeating the final verse, and these last measures contain a thoughtful instrumental effect, which eclipses the text and introduces a new motif a melody reminiscent of Schuberts Ave Maria.

  • You sound really good but it also sounds like your tongue is in the way and "covering" the sound.

Thanks man! I am sure I will record a performance of Widmung soon and upload it here. Hope you can give some constructive advice by then. lol

  • Why not sing the song a little bit slower......it would give a more nice impression and you are able to "rest" in the song...so to speak.

  • bravo!

  • I agree my favorite of the videos you have done.

  • Good job....plus you are very handsome! Is that a baritone thing?

  • So tell me, since when did you become a baritone? Looks like we have both developed quite a bit since 8th grade. I'm heading back to Nor Cal in May, we should get together for old time sake. Great voice, nice tone quality.

  • My favorite of your pieces. Great rich voice.!
