Not sure this qualifies as a 'classic wooden boat'; isn't the hull a Composite type (plywood sheets, glue & nails)? In 1964 at Gdansk, Russianized aPolski, quality builders and materials were scarce. Design is similar to composite boats of this era, but no law against classic wishful thinking. Glad she still floats! Check out Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta 2006.

This boat is not composite. It is traditional carvel construction. Mahagony planking on oak frames fastened with copper rivets. Not only does she still float, but She's still in great shape! Yes, One would think that quality builders would have been scarce during that era but the King's Amethist yachts were of the highest quality workmanship, built with very high quality materials, more in line with the yards in Finland than what one would normally expect from communist Poland.

It is a 32' King's Amethist sloop built in Gdansk, Poland in 1964. I have owned this beautiful wooden yacht for 19 years. I keep her on a mooring in Newport Beach, California.
