Personally I think the British one is better, but the American one just had the opportunity to rip ours and use 'black american' humor to create a different kind of comedy.

Nice bit of information. I agree (and now the internet is irrevocably knackered), that one writer could write and then tweak his own movie creating and affecting differing sensibilities, is an amazing ability. White and English vs Black and American; that's a rare gift indeed as the genres could be diametrically opposed.

Why should it? Dean Craig wrote the screen play for this AND the 2007 version. Which I think shows how capable he really is to make a movie that touches the same issue from 2 very different sensibility. Seriously there are some jokes in the 2007 version that fall flat in the 2010 version and Vice Versa. Shows the same experience from 2 very distinct cultures. English and African American but most 2007 are so caught up in being "british" that don't even realize Dean Craig wrote both movies.

Nothing is stolen when the same screen write wrote both films. Frank Oz gave his blessing and Peter Dinklage plays the same character in both. So how exactly is this a rip off?

I actually prefer the humor of the 2010 version. Didn't even know it was a remake till I looked to stream it on the computer. However, it kinda looses its credibilty knowing now that its a remake.
