Lighting is still not great but atleast there's a commentary this time around.
Just the first in a line of basic tutorials that will lead to mini-conversion projects that you can try yourself.

  • I did the Vaseline bit with my sculpting tool but now the greenstuff doesn't seem to dry and it's been well over a week. Please help.

  • That's a bit odd that it's taking over a week to dry. Did you mix the blue and the yellow parts together in equal amounts and then mix until you have an even green colour?

The vasaline shouldn't effect the curing process and you can wipe the excess vaseline off the model the following day with a cotton wad if you need to.

    .

  • Then is it normal for the colour of mixed greenstuff to be in a dark green shade?

  • Ah that's probably the problem. If it's dark green then you are mixing too much of the blue strip into the mix. Try mixing more of the yellow strip in, you want a sort of goblin green colour. Try making a small ball of each colour that is the same size then mix them together between your fingers until they are a goblin green colour.

  • fantastic, thanks so much.

    Couple questions:

    1. Do you use sculpey and/ or fimo?

    2. How long do you wait after mixing the Greenstuff before you start to work with it?

  • I've never tried sculpey or fimo. I start scupting right after mixing while it's still soft.

  • awesome, thanks. Keep em coming =)

  • No problem. ;)

1: No I mostly use greenstuff but the same techniques can also be used with pro-create and brownstuff.

2: Straight after mixing, as soon as you have an even green colour then you are good to go.

Things to look out for are bits of the plastic wrapping that sometimes gets caught up when mixing and any lumps.

So mix it up, check it for any little bits then just chuck it on and start smoothing.

  • As long as you use just a little on the tool you won't have too many problems.

I haven't had any issues with it so far so you should be ok.

If you are concerned that something isn't going to stick, wait till it's dry and then give it a quick wipe over with a soft cloth before adding the next bit.

Avoid using tissue though as the fibres can stick to the model.

  • Thanks for the tutorial.

Does the vasaline cause any problems if you want to add more green stuff on it later?
