Birt, was a 25 plus year old Blue Fronted Amazon parrot who lived his life in Newport News and Alexandria, Virginia; Escondido and Vista, California; and Big Arm, Montana. The last half of his life was at the lake in Montana where he would often be free to roam along the lake and return to his birdcage on his own. We are glad he was not eaten by an eagle, osprey or hawk, which was a true concern and Birt would evade them if they came near. Birt had a small English vocabulary but was best known for mocking my mother's (and his primary caregiver) distinctive laugh.
Birt's death was premature and unexpected. Two days ago he was found incapacitated and died later that day
Oh my God...Right now, I'm crying for watching so many parrot memorial videos, because I love parrots A LOT and I'm scared of losing mine and it will make me kill myself (well, not going to) if I see a parrot die.
