  • Both John's & Ronnie's versions are great. Ronnie's album cut

    has violins; but the 45 rpm doesn't. Album cut is best.

    Cheers;

  • Some day the end will come for each and every one of us.A shower of teardrops may fall from our eyes,as we think back to the summers in the sun we shared with a departed spouse or lover.The old days the long ago days,the beautiful days we remember as saintly! The winds of time have not broken the bindings that still attach us like a mothers umbilical cord to those long ago days.Some where on this cold and dreary night a forgoten soldier will wander out of the forest to be home at last ADonovan43

    As usually, your words are poetry; melancholic but emotional.

    Thanks very much!

    I'll take a listen to Ronnie Hawkins' version too, then! :) Thanks for telling me about that one and I'm happy you liked this one!!!

  • I believe that Gordon Lightfoot wrote and recorded this song but, the best version that I ever heard was by Ronnie Hawkins, altho' this one is very good also.

  • Thank you Lady Grey for uploading this song. This is a very good version. Some of these old songs fit well into a Blue Grass up-tempo beat.
