He was, 'hwy'- but not until the fall of 1960, when he began mixing videotaped episodes with more filmed ones; as I've previously mentioned, Jack preferred performing "topical" material live or on tape, but his agents at MCA suggested he film about half of his shows every season, the better to make money from their sale for daytime rebroadcasts and future syndication, and make his production company [J&M] more profitable as well. In fact, MCA bought Jack's company out in 1962.

Sounds like good business and I'm glad to know that there was a time when Jack was on weekly. He certainly deserved it having paid so many dues in the business.
Thanks Barry. Great information as always!

Originally telecast on October 25, 1953, and one of "Bogie's" rare appearances on TV; "synthesized" music is heard in place of Mahlon Merrick's "fanfare" (and Raymond Scott's "Be Happy, Go Lucky" jingle) at the beginning of the program. This was during the period when Jack was on TV every three weeks on Sundays, right after his transcribed {recorded in advance} radio show- hence, the joke at 2:11 [on that particular program, Jack had trouble buying a "G-string" for his violin at a music store].
