HUGE MR2 CRASH - BIGGEST EVER SHUNT AT BRANDS HATCH 17/04/2011 - THE CRASH AND AFTERMATH

FULL footage of the MR2 mega shunt at Brands Hatch.
The crash itself - CLOSER than any other posted on Youtube & the aftermath.
Simply the biggest crash ever seen at Brands.
Two MR2s collide as they enter Paddock Hill bend with car 55 Andrei Bgatov vaulting the safety fencing and landing UPSIDE DOWN in the spectator area.
The speed was absolutely frightening this was more of a plane crash than a car crash and a miracle than no spectators were injured in the shunt.
And it shows just how strong and safe racing cars are.
As I ran up the hill to film the aftermath I didn't know what to expect and was told to "stop filming as I might film something I don't want to see....." That's why the footage after the crash is a bit disjointed & short clips edited together.
The car on the back of the rescue truck is Zac Chapman's MR2 (No.1). He was driving the other car involved.

the 2 gentlemen driver only had minor injuries from what I read. and neither car hit any spectators. I love the MR2!!!

For those interested, Zac got out of his car unaided. Andrei is reported as having concussion. He can recognise people, but falls asleep easily. Everyone on the forums I visit seems upbeat about him, not to mention grateful.
