sometimes its the recording rather than the vocals that make a vid sound bad,

Is this actually live? I've just watched the live performance from 1983 of this, and his vocals weren't too good in that (though i still loved the performance) - in this he's about spot on.

Agreed. Even though I adore Roland :) and he is without parallel :P, Curt IS the other half of an amazing band, and he has his own vocal greatness. :)
