The Potting Sheds formed in 1988, and quickly released the now legendary cassette-only Good Effort and Meryl Steep EPs. Live gigs of this period include the late lamented Lowestoft South Pier, and support to King of the Slums at one of the first Baz McHat nights at Norwich Arts Centre (later to become The Wilde Club). Baz was somewhat suprised to find he had booked a jangly-indie band with a tape-recordered drum machine rather than the Industrial/Punk/Metal Hardcore he was expecting!
By 1990 the Sheds had aquired a 'real' drummer and a singer, and featured on a cassette release promoting the soon to be opened Norwich Waterfront.
Later in the year Unsaid was featured on a 7" flexidisc available with the launch issue of Eyesore You fanzine. This was qickly followed by the Second Best 7" - the debut release on Mat Cat Records.
During 1991, complete with a new singer Phil, the band's Recover was featured on the Burn It To A Crisp compilation LP.
In 1992 the band released the Goldfish Memory 12" EP (still a favourite in Japan!) but, unable to sustain this level of success, they duly split-up. Not many people noticed.
