Six-time PGA Tour winner Rocco Mediate has a drill to help you properly transfer your weight and rotate your body towards the target through the swing. Rocco joins joins Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Hank Haney, Greg Norman, and more during 12 Nights at the Academy from November 29-December 10 only on Golf Channel!
@golfprogress Well Foley has never won or for that matter done anything on the tour. Hogan moved his head to the right, when Tiger was at his best he was taught to move his head to the right by Harmon, Jack's head moved all over the place and on and on. Right now Foley is telling Tiger not to move his head to the right. Tiger is playing the worest golf of his pro career. The head most follow the athletic action of the lower body. Why shouldn't we listen to Player, Rocco or Ballard?

Very simply the one direction any golfer should never be concerned with loss of balance is in the direction of the target line.
Loss of balance to heels, towards the initial ball position or back to the trail leg will always create pattersn of inconsistency but towards the target will simply provide good feedback and more opportunities of perfect strikes

@golfprogress the main point made through this drill is not the amount of movement but the direction of the movement itself typically most people will make an effort to strike at the ball whereas the ball itself as we know does not need to be struck it simply needs a connection in order to move itself through compression on a surface namely the clubface.
The great thing about this drill is it keeps the idea of swing through to the target and it is a simple but very effective drill.

I use this drill constantly to transfer weight . It works for golfers that can't seem to get on to their left side. Hit the ball then walk.

@jtjorger If you pause at different points in the backswing and downswing Rocco's head moves a ton prior to impact. I agree that you need a balanced impact position and it seems to me that moving your head way off the ball makes that harder to pull off.

@golfprogress cause you dont lmove untill you hit the ball he has a good balanced impact position and thats all that matters.....have you ever seen AK take a step on the follow through cause i have .....he just giving you a drill so you can under stand the feeling of the weight transfer when you hit a normal shot.......

It's funny that this drill encourages the complete opposite type of swing that Foley is encouraging. Foley's is about balance and this Ballard drill seems to encourage about two feet of head movement. I like Rocco and he's done a lot of great things on tour but how are you supposed to hit the ball moving around that much?
