In this case, it's a choreography thing. I can see it's the style of the piece. But thanks for reminding me what I learned in my first ballet class, 23 years ago.

@tady1982 2nd can also be called 'neutral', you can go anywhere from that postion as well your body is most balanced in this position. :) And it makes a strong statement enough to get your attention :)
