Immortally Yours: Original version of theme song

Writing this - the original/1st version of the theme song for 'Kiss of the Vampire' (at that time called 'Immortally Yours' - with an UNhappy ending!) 3 years ago was an intense experience; i was at home in Hawai'i & the idea had been on my mind for a few days, percolating in some creative gestation chamber (?!) whilst i was working through a very difficult situation vis-a-vis a burgeoning relationship/romance which i'd just concluded had to be nipped-in-the-bud...(a second time! - and so was); composed - ironically - on an idyllic day in Hawai'i's eternal summer & broad sunlight, this was the background which birthed this darkly brooding song! - which was later recorded in Ohio with Croatian classical pianist Nikica Lesic (gifted AND gorgeous!) on a grand piano in an oak-panelled room of the neo-gothic mansion 'Red Oaks', after a night of very-little-sleep, in about an hour an a half (including instructions & production!!), because he had only a limited window of time - so it's a live performance of us both which i think we got down on the third or fourth take (tho' i flubbed one line - it was supposed to be 'shadows in flight' instead i sang 'sparrows') - !!!

(btw my motivation for becoming a 'serious' songwriter (b/c i'd written a few songs since age 5 w/out thinking about it @ all) was that i wanted songs to sing which expressed what i was feeling = it was that simple! I remember making that conscious choice when i was around 13/going thru puberty hell haha, dissatisfiedly going thru my repertoire of songs & annoyed b/c none of them 'said' what i was feeling @ the time; flash of inspiration hit me - 'Write 'em!' ;)

i agree, this moodier version is much more apropos 2 a vampire movie...but it wasn't what the director envisaged, so i had 2 adapt it...radically!

Yes, this is a much darker version of the song... could it be more fitting than the other?? I like the melody and chords in the other.. much prettier, and upbeat... but this is quite beautiful especially with those photos there.. they really capture the spirit of the song.
