Johnnie Johnson, who is rumored to be the inspiration for Chuck Berry's "Johnnie-B-Goodie", serves up a cool shot of "Tanqueray" . Held at The Carter Barron Amphitheater in Rock Creek Park, Washington, DC., this annual festival is free and open to the public, and rarely disappoints.
Also, definitely not Tom Maloney on guitar.

Johnnie had been wearing the captain's hat since the early 1980s at gigs in St. Louis, Peoria, Moline etc. Chuck just started wearing the captain's hat in the past decade. The hat was definitely Johnnie's trademark.

I agree - that guitar solo was just inappropriate - not a good tone either. Theres no accounting for a good set of ears! -

Johnnie Johnson is the Father of Rock'n'Roll. And was the force behind Chuck.
RIP: Johnnie "be good" Johnson

Johnnie "invented" Rock and Roll with Chuck Berry- so rock solos are not foriegn to his music whatsoever.
This one was ill suited.
To remind us how good Keith Richards is (even as a soloist), he plays the guitar solo on the album version - and it's damn near "Swingin' Rock and Roll" perfectness.
