Far Cry 2 - Convoy Mission Part 1

This was recorded on the first day I played this game, so there's a lot of noob comments you'll hear me make or noob things you see me do.

First things first. The sound. All sound you hear was recorded via a microphone propped between the two speakers. I have Screaming Bee's MorphVox Pro voice mod program running, and neglected to turn it off for the bulk of this recording, which is why everything sounds like it was run through a Squirrelifier.

Second thing second. The fact that I'm a noob. Obviously, newly purchased weapons from the gun vendor will appear in the ARMORY, NOT the safehouse! Haha, I'm such a retard. Also, this entire mission I thought I was headed to a static location. I never once noticed that I was actually supposed to destroy a convoy of vehicles, as you'll notice in the sequels to this video.

Lastly, the reason why I posted this video. I saw that not a lot of people had gameplay videos of this game posted on YouTube, so I took it upon myself to present an example of one of the missions you can do in the game.

If you're wondering what the specs to play this game are.. basically, if your game can play F.E.A.R. with no trouble, it can play this game with no trouble. With all settings but Shadows cranked up (as they are in this video), my performances plays between 8-12 fps. With everything turned down low, I get an easy 30+ fps and very smooth gameplay. For best results if you have an old computer, try boosted Texture and Shading details up for best look without performance drop.

Turning shadows on is a serious RAM whore, but Shading cranked to Ultra High easily replaces the lack of shadows. Looking at water with some higher details will cause severe frame rate drop, as well. Currently, I have RealTree set to the highest setting, as are Fire and Physics, and I have Texture set to Ultra High and Shading to Ultra High, and everything else is left to Low or Off, and I get 20 frames per second.

Recording program is FRAPS.

*Edition: WOW! After posting this video I noticed a lot of other convoy mission videos, which makes these 4 completely obsolete! My apologies. If you want to continue watching the videos, you're welcome to, but I can honestly say there are better ones out there (or shorter ones, haha.)

Pretty much an old computer with only the video card changed. I considered buying more RAM, but I figured it's better to save up and just buy the parts for a monster gaming rig later.

Eh? The graphics are beautiful. Except you need a newer computer to play with them. Clearly, my middle-aged computer cannot handle the glory of highly detailed FIIRREEEE!

As for activating convoy missions... shee Iunno, just do some regular missions first and keep trying til ya get it.
