Inappropriate structures ( buildings and road culverts) are being built too close to the main runway endangering aircraft particulatly flying in conditions when visual flight is not possible, that is when pilots are flying blind on instruments, or by student pilots with not the same skills as professionals. Airservices Australia on 15th October 2007 published runway distances of runway 28R reduced by approximately 400 meters at the direction of CASA because of the offending structures. Any use of the runway proposed an entirely "Unique to Archerfield" visual flight segment requirement until passing the building obstacles. On 6th November 2007 AACCI went public over safety issues resulting in a channel 10 report. CASA's public response was that the claims of AACCI were baseless and that would be found in a soon to be released report. CASA has made serious misrepresentations to the public on this matter. The ATSB report took nearly three years to prepare, is a whitewash and technically wrong. The persons within CASA who wrote the report need to be brought to account to explain why they are pasting over safety issues for the Federal Government.
