I love these old movies.. some of the best movies ever made..
-
if the film is set in 1585(?), did astronomers realise the earth revolved at that time?

The garden scene between Thorpe and Donna Maria is one of my all-time favorite movie moments -- that beautiful Korngold music, Howard Koch's poignant dialogue sincerely spoken by the one and only Errol Flynn! A truly great film. A+++++

Henry Danielle was very good as the smary traitor, but his inability to learn fencing really shows through in the end duel. I'd still have preferred Rathbone as Thorpe's adversary, even if he might have been a bit too high-powered for that kind of a role.

claud raines aka the invisible man. very good on your part to notice that old boy

yeah, but what was the yank doing at the bottom of the gangplank calling out to the LEWtentant, not LEFtenant.
They sure don't make swashbuckling flicks like they used to.
